Quarters Brighton and AudioActive are launching their new partnership with a high-energy showcase celebrating the South Coast’s next wave of grime, hip hop, dancehall and cypher talent.

Taking place at the seafront venue on Friday 26 June, Bigger Than We is the first official event from the collaboration, created with Toddla T’s Steeze Factory and designed to put emerging artists on the same stage as respected names from the UK underground.

The night will bring together more than 25 emerging MCs, rappers and artists from across the South Coast, with performances, freestyles, live shellings and DJ sets. Grime pioneer DJ Mak 10 leads the bill, joined by special guests and a line-up shaped around grassroots energy, community and proper live performance.

Representing AudioActive on the night are some of the charity’s standout rising artists, including MC and WaterBear scholarship winner Lilly Wolfe, musical activist Budd Beginnings and freestyle talent Asiedu, all graduates of AudioActive’s EMERGE programme. DJ Melly will also be bringing a bass-heavy set to the Quarters sound system.

Steeze Factory will be represented by respected UK grime artists Mimi Mxnroe and Veepereiraa, while Brighton creative hub 4DM and local hip-hop community Baked Beats will add further weight to a line-up rooted in the city’s fast-moving underground scene.

More than just a gig, the event marks the beginning of a partnership intended to create real opportunities for young people interested in music, live events and the wider creative industries. The collaboration between Quarters and AudioActive will give young artists and future industry professionals hands-on experience in a working venue, from performance to production and event delivery.

Michelle Hunter, Director of Programmes, Communications and Marketing at AudioActive, said the event reflects the charity’s wider mission of backing emerging artists and building bridges across the UK music scene.

“We’re excited to be collaborating with Steeze Factory, Toddla T and his brilliant team for this event,” she said. “They share a similar ethos to us at AudioActive, championing exciting artists and investing in the next generation of talent.

“Creating platforms where real grassroots artists can perform alongside some of the pioneers of the industry just makes sense. AudioActive is deeply committed to supporting the sound of the next generation, and Bigger Than We is a platform that represents exactly that.”

Paul Jack, co-founder of Quarters and its parent company A Man About A Dog, added that paid internships and direct access to the industry are central to the partnership.

“Providing paid internships for those who want to explore, experience and potentially enter the industry is at the heart of the partnership,” he said. “Working in a venue like Quarters is the front line of what we all do in an intimate environment, and alongside a team that gets involved in all aspects of events.”

Since opening in 2025, Quarters has quickly established itself as one of Brighton’s most exciting new music spaces, with a programme that has already welcomed names including Shy FX, Laurent Garnier, Everything Everything, Kruder & Dorfmeister and Swimming Paul.

With Bigger Than We, the venue is now placing the focus firmly on the next generation too.

Bigger Than We takes place at Quarters Brighton on Friday 26 June. Tickets are free in advance from quartersbrighton.co.uk, or £5 on the door.
