Kahlúa and Rossi present Bring Your Own Grandparent to the dancefloor in Hackney Wick

Not A Nightcap - Kahlúa Bring Your Own Grandparent
Not A Nightcap - Kahlúa Bring Your Own Grandparent

DJ Rossi. is taking over Number 90 this October for a club night with a difference, as Kahlúa asks Londoners to bring their grandparents along for the ride.

London club nights are not usually marketed as a family affair, but Kahlúa is changing the rules this October with an event designed to bring generations together on the dancefloor.

On 8 October, DJ Rossi. will take over Number 90 in Hackney Wick for a free evening that comes with one unusual request: bring your grandparents.

Running from 7pm until 11pm, the event poses one simple question: who will still be standing at the end of the night?

Rossi. arrives fresh from a summer of Ibiza and UK festival sets, while the guest list already includes 81-year-old viral star Grimegran and Grandad Frank, making this considerably less conventional than your average midweek club night.

Grimegran

The idea taps into something club culture has always done particularly well: ignoring the rules about who is supposed to be on the dancefloor. Rather than treating nightlife as the preserve of one generation, the event puts grandparents front and centre, with younger guests encouraged to bring them along.

It is playful, slightly ridiculous and, if everyone commits to the assignment, likely to make for one of the more memorable nights Hackney Wick sees this autumn.

For anyone whose grandparents still reckon they could outlast them on a dancefloor, now might be the moment to find out.
